MSME - Development Institute, Muzaffarpur

MSME-Development Institute, Muzaffarpur is a field institute of office of the Development Commissioner (MSME), under Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. The institute (formerly known as Small Industries Service Institute, SISI) was established in the year 1978 with an objective of promotion and development of MSMEs in Bihar (especially North Bihar).

There are four important Cells, namely, (i) Enterprise Development Centre (EDC), (ii) Export Facilitation Centre (EFC), (iii) Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) and (iv) Goods & Services Tax (GST) Facilitation Cell set up in this institute with aim to provide techno-managerial consultancy and hand holding support to MSMEs.

The main aim of this Institute is economic up gradation and employment generation through entrepreneurship development in 21 districts of North Bihar. In addition, this institute also conducts Entrepreneurship/Skill Development Trainings and awareness programmes on various Schemes which are being implemented by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India. The jurisdiction area of this office consists of 21 districts of North Bihar, namely, Araria, Begusarai, Darbhanga, East Champaran, Goplaganj, Katihar, Khagaria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Purnea, Saharsha, Samastipur, Saran, Sitamarhi, Siwan, Sheohar, Supaul, Vaishali and West Champaran.
